Sliding glass walls are systems consisting of **glass panels** that slide in an **aluminium track system**. They are mainly used to close off patio covers, verandas, louvred roofs or balconies flexibly, protecting you from wind and rain while you retain maximum views and daylight. Sliding glass walls generally consist of single **toughened safety glass** (e.g. 10 mm for the R750) and are primarily intended as protection against wind and rain, not as full thermal insulation as with windows and doors. They create what is known as a 'cool veranda' or patio cover, which is more pleasant than being fully outdoors, but is not heated like an indoor room.

As standard we use **toughened safety glass** (usually 10 mm thick, as on the R750, or laminated glass as on the V762 Talamanca). This glass is many times stronger than ordinary glass and, should it unexpectedly break, it shatters into thousands of small, blunt granules, which minimises the risk of injury. In addition, the edges are neatly polished.

The glass walls run smoothly on small wheels in a bottom and top track. The systems usually have a carry-along function, which means that when you slide the first panel, the other panels are automatically taken along with it. This makes the wall easy to open and close. Yes, it is technically possible to have the **bottom track recessed flush with your patio floor** for a threshold-free passage. It is crucial, however, that the **drainage holes** in the track remain clear, so that rainwater can drain away properly. Our **advisers** can advise you on this when measuring on site.

Yes, depending on the system chosen there are various options. Some systems, such as the R750, have a simple catch on the inside. Other models, such as the V762 Talamanca, offer a lockable catch for extra security. Discuss your wishes with our specialists.

They offer excellent protection against wind and (driving) rain. Systems such as the R750 have brush seals between the panels so that they close snugly. However, they are not 100% airtight and watertight like an insulated window frame, but they provide more than enough comfort for a veranda or patio cover.

The aluminium profiles (tracks, handles) are available as standard in popular colours such as **textured anthracite (RAL 7016S)**, **textured black (RAL 9005S)** and **white (RAL 9016)**. At an extra charge, the profiles can be powder-coated in virtually **any RAL colour you wish**.
