Blackout fabrics block the light almost completely (99.9%) and are very well suited to bedrooms or rooms where complete darkness is wanted. Screen fabrics have a modern, technical look and keep out sunlight and heat effectively, while partly preserving the view outside.

The difference lies mainly in the maximum dimensions and the components used. A standard roller blind is suitable for most common window sizes.

The XL roller blind is specially designed for large expanses of glass. It has a thicker tube and sturdier brackets for greater widths and heights, often up to as much as 340 cm wide. That way you keep a sleek, uninterrupted look even with wide windows.

A duo roller blind, also known as a day-and-night blind or zebra blind, combines the functionality of a roller blind with the light control of a venetian blind. The fabric consists of alternating horizontal bands: a transparent, light-filtering band and an opaque band that provides privacy or blackout.

With the operating chain you move the two layers of fabric past each other. When the transparent bands line up, you have maximum light and view. When the opaque bands overlap the transparent ones, you have maximum privacy. In intermediate positions you let the bands overlap partially for filtered light.

Yes, at Renoco most roller blinds are supplied with a cassette system as standard. This is an aluminium housing in which the roll of fabric is neatly concealed when the blind is rolled up.

The cassette protects the fabric against dust and dirt, gives a sleeker and more luxurious finish and, with blackout fabrics, helps to limit light gaps at the top. Various cassette designs are available to suit your style.

You can choose between chain operation and electric operation. Chain operation is the most common option, with a plastic or metal chain at the side that is always fitted in a child-safe way.

For optimum convenience, choose a Somfy motor. You then operate the roller blind with a remote control, a wall switch, your smartphone or tablet using the Somfy TaHoma switch, or a voice assistant via Google Assistant or Alexa. Electric operation is particularly suitable for large, tall or hard-to-reach windows and offers extra comfort and luxury.

Roller blinds are generally easy to maintain. The most important thing is regular dusting with a feather duster, a dry microfibre cloth or the soft brush of your vacuum cleaner on its lowest setting.

Small stains can often be dabbed gently with a slightly damp cloth, using water alone or, if necessary, a very mild, pH-neutral cleaning product. Test this first on an inconspicuous spot and never rub hard, as that can damage the fabric or coating. Roller blind fabrics are generally not suitable for machine washing or for soaking completely.
